Titles
We decided to call our opening sequence One Last Call, this is because of the idea with the phone call. Our font for our people titles (producer etc.) was Thonburi this was a simple font and didn't distract from the film. For our main title we chose to create it on Motion so that we could get it to track across the screen.
Editing
For our production companies we chose UK Film Council Lottery Funded and New Line Cinema, we chose New Line Cinema because they are associated with thriller films. Throughout our opening sequence we used fade in and outs (cross dissolve and addictive dissolve). With the shot of the victim getting kidnapped, we chose to shorten the clip right down so that it cut off just as she was kidnapped. With the shot of the kidnapper scribbling out the picture of the victim, we decided to zoom in on Final Cut to get rid of the white space.
Filming Feedback
The filming from our new idea was filmed in my house, we managed to get some good shots. We had trouble at first with lighting because with a couple of shots, a light has to be turned on, this caused trouble for the camera because it wouldn't focus. We also found that when we saw the close up shot of the phone, the camera wouldn't focus, after reviewing the shot though, we decided to keep it as it makes the audience think who is calling. To create the bang, we just got someone to kick a door.
Development
After trying to film at Christchurch Park in the dark, we found that it would be very difficult, we had a think and decided to base the opening sequence in a house, the plot:
- Girl in bed
- Gets phone call
- Hears bang from downstairs
- Goes to investigate
- Knock on front door
- Opens door, gets kidnapped
- Kidnapper walking into room, scribbling out picture of victim
